I am seeing Stripes!

I am not the zebra from lucky stripes, but I am definately inspired by chevron these days.  This pattern is eye-catching and a safe, full-proof way to add "punch" to your decor.  Check out the ideas below for every room in the house.

For your Bedroom, a Chevron throw

 

For your living room; A Chevron Chair

 

Paint a "rug" in your kitchen or hallway

 

Hang a Chevron curtain in your office or den

 

Use Chevron tape on Lamp-shades, journals, or just for fun anywhere

 

A small collection of Chevron everywhere and anywhere....love the ginger jar

 

Chevron underfoot with a rug in the dining room...it is the star and makes all colors come together.

 

A small classic touch with a chevron pillow on a couch, chair or bed......

 

How about Chevron for yourself?, a dress....mod or retro, you decide.

 

Again, a painted chevron floor...This looks like a store, but could easily work in an entry, mudroom or kitchen....

 

Chevron on the floow makes sense for many uses as you can see and an easy update in any room.

A little color goes a long way!

I am all about painting it.  It is the easiest way to change anything and make it new.  It is most definitely the most economical way to change up a space and make a statement, that and of course pillows.  You just can't have too many.  Paint is like magic.  For those of you who need some inspiration:  check out the before and after pictures below:

We all have seen these kinds of cabinets before:  50's is back to life:  But add some new life will a few hours of elbow grease and some off-white paint:

Presto:

Knotty Pine tongue and groove paneling:  Got to love it:  It is strong and truly a craftman's product:  But, can it get any more dreary????? Check out the paint scheme below.  Not only does it lighten it up, but actually keeps that country cool look.  Much improved.

Now take the exterior:  add some color and presto chango--a new cottage appeal

Again, tongue and groove knotty pine paneling...what is with this stuff????

Oh my! How lovely you look tonight....a lighter shade of pale.

One thing paint will not do:  and that is change the structure of the room.  Look at this gorgeous tray ceiling in this living room.  But it gets so lost in the sea of brown.

Although appropriate for a office, den or libary....the room below is now an every day room of style and grace.  Add some new curtains and instant new look.

Again, look at the tray ceiling below.  It gets lost in the brown paneling.  Here is where you truly realize that white IS a color.

I know I am repeating myself....but anything worth hearing is worth repeating.....paint, paint and paint some more.  Don't be afraid....You can always change the color or sand it off.

I so love this idea.  Take a great paint card from Lowes or home depot and paint each drawer of a chest one of the colors from the card.......instant unique decor.  This is great for a bedroom, nursery or hallway.  I am definitely stealing this idea.

Hello to the world

Well, as if my world isn't crazy enough.....with working what amounts to two full time jobs in health care currently, one in management and one with extensive travel, mind you; taking care of a family, remodeling a house, refurbishing a vintage camper, running an online boutique.......I have now added onto our Simply Home family.  We are now offering Feather Your Nest, WV; home staging and design services for the tri-state.
