Day Two--Dining Room
Again, just like the living room, the easiest way to create a fun and eclectic atmosphere with a carnival theme in the dining room is to start with a statement piece....most likely a rug. If you can see the dining room from another room of the house, make sure the rug complements the decor from the adjacent room.
This zebra rug is actually a basic pattern for any room of the house. What makes it fun for a carnival theme, is the artwork, orange dining chairs and the pillow in the black chair in the adjacent room.
This honeycomb pattern rug takes the traditional red, white and blue up a notch with its honeycomb pattern.
Chevron shows its stylish face here in this eclectic dining room with fun yellow chairs and turquoise curtains.
Lovely yellow painted sideboard...you can see the original above. Who knew?
This sideboard had mixed patterns and paint to keep it fun.
This dining room shows some fun in the artwork and painted blue sideboard.
Hot pink sideboard...an antique never looked so good,
Miss-matched chairs in fun deep colors takes this room up a notch in contrast to the painted floors,
Miss-matched chairs in pastels with a fun fireplace mantel.
Dining chairs in stripe fabric say "oh so carnival fun"
Fabric chairs are always easy...add one at each end of the table to create some formality with color and style.
An idea for a shabby vintage circus, modern wing back chairs, flowers in a milk glass vase, wood and metal chandelier--add a soft pastel circus print and you are good to go.
Similar idea, but with lots of color...pink, orange and white...fun colorful accessories and art.
A great idea to add punch to a vintage chair...add into the corner or at the head of the table.
Fun Chandelier for over the table in paper mache with striped shades...A lovely pick from Stray Dog Designs....check out the others below.
If you are daring enough...add stripes to the wall.
If you aren't then add striped curtains instead.
Save a china hutch with some paint and some fun colorful wallpaper in the back.
Another example of a revamped hutch with maps in the back and globes on the top.
Colorful artwork adds a punch of circus fun.
The eclectic--ness of this dining room is apparent from the chairs, vintage sideboards and most importantly the "EAT" sign....any vintage sign like that will add "flavor".
I hope you gleaned some ideas from this post on dining rooms...Leave us a comment with them.....
